Our Minister
Our minister, Samuel A. Matthews, has served us since the beginning of 2011. He is a servant of God, a preacher of the Gospel of Christ, a member of the body of Christ since 1977. He was born on February 18, 1949 in Detroit, MI. He is happily married to Cynthia Ann Jones of Detroit, MI.
Bro. Matthews performed missionary work in Honduras, Jamaica, New Mexico and South Africa. He has preached at various lectureships and as the guest evangelist for congregations of the churches of Christ in England, Scotland and more than half of our United States. He has published two religious tracts, You Can Be Just A Christian and The Five Steps To Salvation. He has written many articles published in various brotherhood papers. He designed, published and maintains the web site: www.TrustInGodAmerica.com.
Upon retiring, after 20 honorable years of service as a Nuclear Submarine Weapons Officer in the US Navy in 1989, he attended the Brown Trail School of Preaching in Bedford, Texas. Upon graduation from preaching school in June 1991, he served for 10 years as the evangelist for the churches of Christ meeting in various cities in the state of Utah. He also served for 6 years as the evangelist for a congregation of the church of Christ in Portland, OR.
Bro. Matthews has a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and a Master’s Degree in Church Ministry from Southern Christian University in Montgomery, Alabama.
